Steve Beck of Beck Audio Forensics was the test director for a gunshot audio data collection that took place in the NACA (North Austin Civic Association) neighborhood on May 19, 2026. This test was part of the CIVIC-Alert Gunshot Detection and Location project, sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF).

On January 24, 2026, Alex Pretti was shot to death by two ICE agents in Minneapolis MN. Cell phone recordings of the shooting made at two different locations are shown below. Beck Audio Forensics performed this analysis for the Washington Post and the BBC. 

On July 13,2024, Donald Trump was holding a rally in Butler Park Pennsylvania when 10 gunshots rang out.

The following questions were asked:

• Who fired each shot?

• How long did it take law enforcement to respond?

• Were there other shooters?
